Work begins on the new Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona

This May, the adaptation works for the construction of the new Joan XXIII University Hospital in Tarragona will begin. This first phase of the project foresees the modification of the urbanization to allow the construction of the future building and the interconnection works of the future building with building C. The first actions are adaptation works of the Emergency area.

As of next Wednesday, May 4, it is planned to transfer the Radiology Department to the Emergency Service. The Radiology room will be temporarily moved to the Pediatric Emergency waiting room space. This action will entail the modification of the radiology circuit of the Emergency Department.

The new circuit will be marked with lines on the ground. It is also planned to move the work rooms and rest rooms of the Emergency Department. The rest room will be located in the space of the former Pediatrics waiting room and the reporting room in the former prison boxes.

In addition, also from May 4, the modification of the two offices of the Biobanc will be carried out, to allow a new access to the general store.

As of May 16, the transfer of non-assistance services, such as maintenance workshops, is planned, modifying the access circuit to the general stores. In addition, during this month of May, other actions that it is important for citizens to know, such as the modification of the access road to the Emergency Room.

This means that the new access to the Emergency Room, both for medicalized vehicles and for private individuals, will be through the pedestrian path that leads to Guillem Oliver Street.

The logistics and other supply vehicles will enter and exit through the technical road, from Calle del Doctor Mallafré. On the other hand, geotechnical and geophysical surveys have begun in the areas where the foundations of what will be the new Hospital will be laid.
