Agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra from the Tortosa police station arrested two men aged 24 and 65 on May 7, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health in the form of drug trafficking.
The events occurred around 6:30 pm on the same day, the 7th, when the Mossos d’Esquadra were carrying out a control on the C-42 road at one of the access roundabouts to the city of Tortosa.
An agent of the Local Police of Amposta, who was off duty and passing through the aforementioned control, informed the Mossos that a vehicle had slowed down considerably when seeing the control and its two occupants seemed to be looking for an exit. immediately from the road to avoid the police device.
Given the impossibility of leaving the road at that point, the vehicle was stopped while passing through the checkpoint. The police searched the vehicle and the two men who were travelling, who were also identified.
As a result of the search of the vehicle, the agents located a package that contained 212 grams of cocaine in rock.
As a result of these events, the two men were arrested for drug trafficking.
The detainees were handed over to the Tortosa guard court yesterday, May 9, and the judicial authority decreed their release with charges.
