The councilor of Reus Pere Aluja leaves the ICU

The councilor of the Reus City Council Pere Aluja, who was run over on March 25 while crossing a pedestrian crossing on Avinguda dels Països Catalans, has left the ICU, as reported by sources from the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona consulted. About a month after he was admitted to the health center, which he entered, according to the government at the time, with “injuries of various kinds and a head injury as a result of the impact”, Aluja is already on the floor. The same sources indicate that the head of Social Welfare “evolves favorably.”

A few hours after the outrage, the Investigating Court number 3 of Reus decreed provisional detention, communicated and without bail for the driver of the vehicle. The magistrate considered that the driver, who responds to the acronym EVS, “has been able to commit acts, presumably, constituting three crimes against road safety (alcoholemia, refusal to submit to alcohol tests and driver without a license) and a crime reckless injury (pedestrian hit by driving under the influence of alcohol). This is also stated in the police report.

The magistrate also pointed out in his interview that “it is evident that this individual is not aware of the risk posed by alcohol consumption and the use of vehicles (he has also been sentenced twice for this in 2015 and 2018)” and that “after having been convicted of drunk driving on December 29, 2021, he has done it again with serious consequences for the pedestrian hit. For all these reasons, “there is a reasonable risk factor of repetition of similar acts in the event of being released.”
