The Tarragona Tennis Club will hold presidential elections during the first fortnight of September. This was announced during the ordinary shareholders’ meeting held last Friday at the Palau de Congressos de Tarragona, where the current president, Pere Ll. Bergadà officially announced that he will not stand for re-election.
The exact date of the elections will be announced in a few weeks, once the electoral calendar is approved. The current board of directors concludes its six-year term on September 17.
Everything indicates that there will be two candidacies that will be presented to the elections. One would be headed by Manel Albiac, current member of the Catalan Tennis Federation, and the other is being developed without it having yet transpired who will lead it.
Pere L. Bergadà took advantage of the assembly to take stock of these last six years, marked above all by the purchase of the Tennis Park and the expansion of the facilities and by these last two years of pandemic.
The assembly, which was attended by almost 200 members, was marked by the pre-electoral climate, to the point that it lasted for three hours due to the many questions asked by some attendees and their subsequent answers.
During the assembly, the board of directors achieved the approval of all the items on the agenda, including the closing of the 2021 financial year, which yielded a positive balance of 13,286.11 euros. The accounts are audited without exception.
The budget for the 2022 financial year was also approved, amounting to 1,771,949 euros. The figure represents an increase of 140,796 euros and 7.85% compared to 2021.
