The Chamber of Commerce of Tarragona and the Tarragona city councils of La Secuita and Perafort (Tarragonès) have asked the Generalitat for better access to the Camp de Tarragona AVE station in a meeting with the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà.
The request has been made during an institutional visit by the president of the Chamber, Laura Roigé, and the mayors of La Secuita, Eudald Roca, and Perafort, Joan Martí Pla, according to the economic corporation.
The Chamber of Commerce appeals to execute the new section of access to the station from the local road TP-2031, since the informative and environmental impact study has been approved by Carreteres de la Generalitat since 2008.
It is about building “a scant kilometre” that “would allow Torredembarra to be connected” and, in turn, “access more quickly in the Penedès and Garraf counties, which use this station to go to Madrid”, *Roigé explained to * Vilagra.
For his part, the mayor of Perafort has stressed that “the access to the station from Tarragona is still pending.” In this sense, there are two possibilities: improve the N-240 road (State competence) or “developing the Sant Ramon road, competence of the Generalitat”, the mayor pointed out.
Finally, Roca has informed the councilor that the La Secuita City Council is promoting a low-cost car park near the station that will be in service in 2023.
Currently, cars park on the shoulders, with problems of insecurity and poor image. The mayor of La Secuita has requested that “a roundabout be executed urgently to give access to the new municipal car park” in order to “not generate traffic chaos”.
