It is one of the heritage elements of Sant Jaume dels Domenys. The Arcs aqueduct, documented as early as 938, has begun to be restored.
The works are for the removal of the vegetation that affected its structure in addition to consolidate the parts damaged by the passage of time and vandalism. It will also have new lighting to highlight the set.
The Arcs of Sant Jaume dels Domenys is ehe most outstanding hydraulic vestige of the Penedès and would date from the IV-V centuries after Christ. Six arches from the 70s that the infrastructure could have had are preserved.
Those of Sant Jaume dels Domenys and those in Pineda de Mar they are the only ones that are preserved in Catalonia of rural aqueducts.
The Sant Jaume supplied water from the Cornudella stream to the Roman villa where the Arcs farmhouse is located and which was a large mansion for rest and agricultural exploitation of a prominent character in the Roman Empire.
With the beginning of the Arquets farmhouse, the alignment of the arches formed a curved line to maintain the unevenness that would allow the arrival of the water to what is known as Vinya de la bassa.
The restoration work has a cost of 14,217 euros and is expected to last a month. They are in charge of Arqueòlegs.cat.
