Salou City Council will prepare new spaces to function as park and ride this summer. They will aim to facilitate mobility in the municipality after the enormous complications to park vehicles in public squares that arose especially in the past months of July and August 2021, due to the high number of local tourists who decided to spend their vacations in the municipality in the face of complications for medium and long-distance trips.
The mayor confirmed the creation of these deterrents when he was asked about the scenes experienced last year by the spokesman for Ciudadanos, Pere Lluís Huguet, during the municipal plenary session held this Wednesday. Huguet cited, for example, the Pla del Maset road, packed with parked cars from Salou to La Pineda.
Granados responded that, for the summer, “it is planned to prepare different spaces, so that visitors can park, provisionally”, while the construction of three new car parks is carried out that contemplates the plan of the Next Generation European funds. , with an amount for that concept of 600,000 euros.
The Councilor for Mobility and Citizen Security, David González, specified, in this regard, that “the most immediate action, also included in the Next Generation Funds, is the expansion of the current Pompeu Fabra car park, which would connect with Avinguda de la Pedrera ».
Granados, by the way, took advantage of that same response to announce that the receipt of the six million euros of European funds is imminent to launch the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, presented by the Salou City Council in the extraordinary call for Sustainability Tourism in Destinations of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
The plenary also unanimously agreed to report on the request of the Radio Taxi de Salou group to implement a new rate in the urban taxi service provided with vehicles with more than five seats, including that of the person who drives. It is a fare supplement for this year 2022 of 4.30 euros, from the fifth seat, in vehicles with up to 9 seats.
The framework agreement between the Salou City Council and the Tarragonès Regional Council, regulator of the delegation of the collection service for used oils of domestic origin, was also unanimously approved. It will have a duration of 4 years; the collection and transport of the service will be free for the City Council.
Another agreement that was given the green light was the regulation of the delegation of the exercise of municipal powers in relation to the destination of part of the resources obtained by the City Council in its participation in the Local Tranche of the Tax on Stays in Tourist Establishments.
It will be allocated to the FEHT, as a public-private collaboration tool, for promotion in the destination’s strategic source markets.
