More than 400 children spend the day collecting waste in Reus

Some 450 students from institutes and schools in Reus have participated this morning on the occasion of the European Day for Cleaning the Environment in the action Let’s Clean Up Europepromoted to Reus by the Department of Human Resources and the Environment, with the collaboration of ten educational centers in the city.

The students have carried out waste collection throughout the morning around their educational centers. Later they have moved, with banners that they have previously prepared, to the Plaza del Mercadal.

In the same square, a count of the collected waste has been made: 35 bags of rejection, 8 bags of paper and cardboard and 54 bags of packaging. All to raise awareness of the amount of waste that we throw into nature in an uncontrolled way.

Later, the secondary students of the Puigcerver School have read a manifesto. The mayor of the city, Carles Pellicer, and the Councilor for Human Resources and the Environment, Daniel Rubio, went down to the square to receive the students, whom they thanked for their protest action and encouraged the youth to continue in the defense of nature and the environment.

The participating centers have been the Joan Rebull School; the Prat de la Riba School; the Montsant School; the Isabel Besora School; the Puigcerver School; Mercy School; the Bressol Municipal School La Ginesta; the IES Baix Camp; the IES Gaudí and the IES Roseta Mauri.
