Francesc Martin won the first edition of the Andomita, the foot race that crosses the provinces of Tarragona and Lleida and ends in Andorra. The athlete completed the 420 km distance and 20,000 meters of positive elevation gain in 99 hours. The other two participants on the podium were Oscar Placin and Imanol Aleson with 100 hours. Oriol Antolí, Jonatan Jurado and Félix Sánchez are the other three finishers of Andomita la Leyenda, as some participants have been calling it.
Martin only slept about 5 hours during the entire route, 2:00 in Castelldans, 2:30 in Tremp and half an hour under some bushes, since sleep overcame him and he lay on the ground sheltered from the wind. Also another quite unusual thing is that he did practically the entire route with the same shoes, in Civís he changed them since they were wet and thus be able to face the last ascent to Coll de la Gallina and the descent to Sant Julià de Lòria with greater security.
Most of the 41 participants in the first edition, 20 individuals, 12 as a couple and 9 who wanted to do only one or two stages of the race, agree that the route passed through very remote places in the two western provinces of Catalonia and very emblematic in turn, and they regret their passage through some of the areas at night, since it has prevented them from seeing the landscapes. Luckily, the weather only gave a can the first night with very high winds in the passage through the Miranda de Llaberia and the Mola de Colldejou, and in the Tremp stage in Andorra where the participants have stepped on snow in the Coll d’Àres .
Although the registration for this race is quite small, only 100 euros, a very important part will go to a charitable cause, since Marc Fernández and his team have decided to make a donation to the AFASIT Association.
