Fourteen actions to bring climate justice closer to young people

Those who pass through the lobby of the bus station in the next two weeks will find a group of totems that make us think about how climate change is affecting life; including migrations. This is the exhibition ‘Migration and displacement of people for environmental causes’ created by the Associació Entrepobles and the Institute of Human Rights of Catalonia.

The exhibition is part of the Climatives programme, an initiative of the Cooperació and Joventut departments whose main objective, explains the councilor for both areas, Hermán Pinedo, “is to create a space for dialogue and the exchange of knowledge and experiences”.

climate justice day

The highlight of the program that starts tomorrow and will last until August 5th will be the Climate Justice and Ecological Transformations conference that will take place on May 13th between the URV’s Campus Catalunya and Casa Canals.
In the morning, Diana Martínez, human rights defender in Colombia, will explain her experience and in the afternoon it will be the turn of Antonio Turiel, renowned physicist and scientific communicator, CISC researcher and expert in energy resources. There will also be Aurora Sáez, head of the cooperative and feminist entity CooperAcció; who will present the conclusions of the ‘Feminist Diagnosis on the environmental struggles in the Camp de Tarragona’ and finally Andrea Vilaseca, from Enginyeria sense fronteres who will speak about the human right to water and sanitation. Finally, there will be a round table with various voices and the presentation of the final result of Laboratory of the Planet: an experimental workshop created with young people from the city.

In addition to the day, other activities have been organized (there are 14 in total) on very varied topics. Some focus on the reflection of the forms of consumption, or on interstellar scrap, while others give ideas to make use of kitchen or how to reduce the use of plastics in everyday life. The first act will be the presentation tomorrow of the book ‘Si el cel es tornés vermell’ by journalist and science writer Cori Calero.
