The best youth players in Catalonia meet this weekend at the Pavelló Casal Esportiu Riu Clar in Tarragona. The Joventut de Badalona, FC Barcelona, Manresa and L’Hospitalet teams will meet in the Final Four of the Preferential Cadet Championship of Catalonia, the highest division of this category in Catalan basketball. It will be the first time that the city hosts this final. It will do so as part of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Agrupació Deportiva Torreforta (ADT), organizer of the final phase of the competition.
Joventut Badalona, who finished the regular season in first position, and L’Hospitalet, was fourth, will open the semi-final round on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., while the other semi-final between FC Barcelona and Manresa will be played on the same stage at starting at 7:00 p.m.
The two winners will compete for the Catalan title in the grand final on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. (TAC12). At 6:00 p.m. the match will be played for third and fourth place with the last place of the three available to attend the Spanish Championship of the category that will be played in San Fernando (Cádiz) from May 15 to 21.
The president of the Torreforta entity, Robert Hernández, highlighted the presence of “players who in two or three years will be playing in the ACB with proven players.”
For her part, Maria José López, councilor for Sports, pointed to the clubs, such as the ADT, as promoters of this type of event: “Without the work of the clubs it would not be possible.”
The current champion of the category is Joventut who won the title in 2021.
