The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz came back from the number one in the world, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, by 6-7 (5), 7-5 and 7-6 (5), and reached the final of the Madrid Masters 1,000 that he will play against the German Alexander Zverev or the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Alcaraz, who will be the sixth player in the world on Monday, became the youngest finalist in the tournament and the second youngest to topple the Balkan tennis player after 18-year-old Filip Krajinovic.

In an epic and dramatic duel, resolved after three hours and 35 minutes of play, the Spanish player added his ninth victory in a row and achieved the sixth consecutive against a ‘top ten’. Alcaraz, who on Friday became the youngest to beat Rafael Nadal on clay, is the first youngest to consecutively defeat the Spaniard and Djokovic.

At nineteen years and two days old, the player from El Palmar was on the brink of winning the fifth title of his career, the fourth this year, after Rio de Janeiro, Masters 1,000 in Miami and Barcelona.
