A hundred Ukrainian children join the school in El Vendrell

They got up early because it was going to be their first day of school. New classmates, new school and that means some nerves.

A hundred Ukrainian children housed in Ohtels de Sant Salvador joined this Thursday the Àngel Tobies high school in El Vendrell. They are schoolchildren from P3 to the third year of ESO who have already met their new classmates and teachers.

A week ago the director of the center had a meeting with the parents to explain how the center works and clear up any doubts.

The school bus took the students to school.

At school The situation in Ukraine has been explained to the students for weeks. And with greater incidence because the incorporation of Ukrainian children was expected.

For operational reasons, it has been decided to take all Ukrainians to the same center where they arrive on the school bus after having lunch at the hotel.

In the coming days Students from the fourth year of ESO will join the IES Baix Penedès.

At school, teachers and classmates were already waiting for the Ukrainians this Thursday. That schooling helps integration and also intends, as far as possible, to avoid the tragic situation suffered by their families. One of the main lessons will be learning the language.

Mayor Keneth Martínez highlighted the normality with which the process for the incorporation of young people to school has been followed.

The students who have joined the Angel Tobies school are from families housed in the Sant Salvador hotekl and who came to El Vendrell fleeing the war.

A month ago, the students who are in the Santa Maria del Mar hostel in Coma-ruga already joined the Coma-ruga school and the IES Baix Penedès. These students are from families who were in Barcelona when Russia invaded Ukraine and were unable to return to the country
